The McAllen Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with The Prelude, will be hosting an “Open Mic” talent search on July 8th and August 5th from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the McAllen Creative Incubator located at 601 N. Main Street in McAllen.
Don’t miss your opportunity to perform for a spot in one of the McAllen Chamber of Commerce’s events, such as “Food Park Unplugged”.
Food Park Unplugged is a FREE event open to all ages and features live performances that rock the block in the heart of McAllen’s Arts and Entertainment District. “Open Mic will bring forth raw talent. We are constantly looking for local talent to perform at Food Park Unplugged,” said Yajaira Villarreal, Administrative Assistant at the McAllen Chamber of Commerce.
This event takes place every third Friday of the month from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM at 10 N. Broadway in McAllen. During Open Mic auditions, artists can also be selected to perform for the Art Walk at the Creative Incubator.
McAllen’s Art Walk occurs every first Friday of the month from September until May. The City of McAllen comes alive with vibrant, passionate culture from its residents through a FREE, self-guided tour of art studios, museums and galleries located in the city’s oldest and most historic neighborhoods. The event has become a popular attraction for both the community and visitors alike as a way to come together and revel in their shared passion for art and culture. In conjunction with Music After Hours, local crafters and musicians are able to showcase their talents to the South Texas community. The Art Walk is held from 6:00 PM until 10:00 PM.
Additionally, musicians could be selected to perform for The Prelude’s booking team, which books musicians for events throughout the Valley.
The Prelude is a “musicians’ incubator”. Taking the collective approach of art studio incubators as inspiration, they offer a comprehensive and focused set of services designed specifically for musicians. No matter your age or experience level, The Prelude can help clarify where you are as a musician, set specific and measurable goals for the future, and develop a roadmap to get there. The Prelude is also a resource center that you can access at any time as you travel along your career path.
Aspiring performers across the Valley are encouraged to sign up and reserve their spot here. Artists can also show up at Open Mic night, but spaces are limited. For further questions, contact The Prelude at 956.335.5173.
