Spend some time shopping at local businesses in McAllen, visit the opening of the annual Christmas Tree Forest at the IMAS, and bring along a dancing partner for the Que Viva La Salsa event at Cine El Rey. Read on for more things to do in McAllen this weekend!
Friday, November 22nd
- Stop by the B’s in a Pod Grand Opening Party from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM. B’s in a Pod is a local Boba tea and bubble waffle shop that will be hosting a giveaway throughout the day, which includes prizes like movie tickets, K-pop merch, and gift cards!
- Shop for jewelry, beauty, fashion, and more during the Jewelry and Gift Show at the McAllen Convention Center. This event will be happening from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM on Friday and Saturday and from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM on Sunday.
- Sip, mingle, and shop during Blooms and Bubbly at Southern Roots Flower Market from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
- Join The Art Lounge at Roof 324 for a night full of visual experiences, funky music, and good vibes from 7:00 PM until 2:00 AM.

Saturday, November 23rd
- Join the 14th Annual Turkey Trot at South Texas College – Pecan Campus from 7:30 AM until 10:30 AM. There will be an admission fee of eight cans of food for the RGV Food Bank in order to participate. The race begins at 7:30 AM and registration begins at 6:30 AM. For more info, call (956) 872-3707.
- Try Tai Chi at the McAllen Nature Center from 8:00 AM until 9:00 AM. There is a suggested donation fee of $1 per person.
- Enjoy a leisurely-guided walk during Birding Our Backyard at Quinta Mazatlán from 8:30 AM until 10:00 AM. There is a general admission fee of $3 per person.
- Find fresh, organically-grown fruits, vegetables, eggs, and more at the McAllen Farmers Market from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
- See the Annual Christmas Tree Forest at the IMAS from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM. The Christmas Tree Forest will be on display until January 5th, 2020.
- Give Thanks to Nature at Quinta Mazatlán will be held from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. There is a general admission fee of $3 per person.
- Join Creature Feature at Quinta Mazatlán to learn all about toads and understand your connection to all living things. This event will be from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM with a general admission fee of $3 per person.
- Stop by Kaboom Comics for a Super Hero Snow Globe Workshop from 12:00 PM until 2:30 PM. There is a fee of $10 per participant. Please register by visiting the Events Section on their Facebook Page and selecting “Going.”
- Practice Yoga at the McAllen Farmers Market from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM.
- Make some Thanksgiving Treats with your loved ones at the McAllen Public Library from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM.
- Come and showcase your best six Pokémon™ to battle other trainers during the Pokémon Go™ PVP Tournament: Ferocious Cup at the McAllen Library from 3:00 PM until 5:30 PM.
- The Boys & Girls Club of McAllen (BGCM) is proud to announce its 7th Annual McAllen Tamale Fest. This event will be held at Archer Park from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Come celebrate tamales, culture, and local traditions!
- Rhythm Room presents Que Viva La Salsa at Cine El Rey from 8:00 PM until 1:00 AM. There will be a special Bachata dance class beginning at 8:00 PM followed by live music. Tickets are available online, please click here to purchase.
- Enjoy live music at The Year 1 Party held at The Gremlin beginning at 9:30 PM.
Sunday, November 24th
- Enjoy a bike ride with the Sun & Ski Sports Team during their Sunday Sapo Gravel Ride from 7:00 AM until 10:00 AM. Meet at their La Plaza Mall location and don’t forget your helmet and water bottle!
- Spend ”Friendsgiving” at the Courtyard Plaza from 11:00 AM until 5:00 PM. Enjoy complimentary cocktails and appetizers, door prizes, deals, tent sales, free gifts with purchases, and a bouncy house for the kids.
- Join the Youth Art Class Workshop at the IMAS from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM. Experiment with paper-making methods and creating your own sketchbook. There is a fee of $10 per participant. - Shop from local vendors, enjoy food, music, a pie-eating contest, and more at The Wish Market. This event will be held at The Yard from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

- Join a staff member for Art in the Park at the McAllen Nature Center from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM. There is a suggested donation fee of $1 per person.
