Ready for a jam-packed month full of events that will have you exploring every inch of what McAllen has to offer? April is full of fun activities that range from delightful musicals at the McAllen Performing Arts Center to stuffing your belly with delicious unlimited crawfish. Invite your friends or bring the family! And for some of these special events, you can even bring your furry best friend!

  • April 4thBuddy: The Buddy Holly Story – Experience the story of Buddy Holly through his short but spectacular career, featuring classic songs that will have you singing along!
  • April 6th: Art Walk at the McAllen Incubator – The city’s Art Walk is a free, family-friendly event that promotes local artists!
  • April 6th: VSO: Forbidden Pleasures of Carmina Burana – Maestro Dabrowski presents the final concert of the Symphonic Visions season. Experience the majestic power from Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, featuring guest vocalists from the Valley Symphony Chorale.
  • April 7th: 5K and 10K Fit Fest – Join the Fit Fest Family Fun Run 5K/10K at Tres Lagos. There will also be a Kid’s 1-Mile Run and Doggie Walk/Run for FREE!
  • April 7th: 10th Annual Brew-seum at IMAS – Celebrate National Beer Day by sampling craft beer, local fare, live music and more. It’s a great community event that supports the International Museum of Art & Science!
  • April 13th: Little River Band – Dubbed “the best singing band in the world” by Eagles founding member Glenn Frey, Little River Band is ready to share their chart-topping hits at the McAllen Performing Arts Center!
  • April 14th: Sunset Live Concert Series – Enjoy a FREE concert series that promotes up-and-coming artists/musicians at a family- and pet-friendly event! With native palm trees and foliage in the backdrop, it’s a big city feel with the uniqueness of the Rio Grande Valley.
  • April 14th: Paws for Pints Beer and Music Fest – Enjoy music, beer, vendors, food trucks, auction items and raffle items hosted by RGV Low Cost Spay and Neuter Clinic. Be sure to bring your four-legged family members.
  • April 15th: 5th Annual Selena Night Block Party – This event has grown into a full block party celebrating Tejano Queen Selena Quintanilla-Perez. With Selena-inspired drink menus and decorations, plus a Selena look-a-like and karaoke contest, this event will be a huge dance party celebration!
  • April 21st: Dog Day at the Pool – McAllen Parks and Recreation is hosting their Bi-Annual Dog Day at Los Encinos Pool! Bring your dog and their favorite pool toys for plenty of fun between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Proof of current vaccinations is required with a fee of $1.00 per person and $2.00 per dog (max two dogs per owner). More information can be found on page 29 of the McAllen Spring Activity Guide.
  • April 27th: Zoé – The Latin Grammy Award-winning Mexican rock band Zoé will be rocking the McAllen Performing Arts Center, bringing flare and culture to local audiences.
  • April 27th: 26th Annual Crawfish Boil – Presented by the Rotary Clubs of McAllen, this boil will have unlimited crawfish, live music and ice-cold drinks!
  • April 27th through 29th: South Texas Comic Con – The premier pop culture convention in McAllen will feature celebrity meet and greets, Q&A panels, comic book creators, music, wrestling, card and video gaming, a vendor market, an artist alley and so much more!
