November 29th, 30th, and December 1st: Lighting of the Tree at the Art Village on Main, Pawchella 2019, and More Things to Do in McAllen!

Spend the weekend in McAllen at the Lighting of the Tree at the Art Village on Main, enjoy live music at Pawchella 2019 at The Flying Walrus, and end Sunday at the Tres Lagos Farmers’ Market. Read on for more things to do in McAllen this weekend!

Friday, November 29^th

• Enjoy champagne and pastries during Breakfast at Portillo’s Jewelers inside La Plaza Mall from 7:00 AM until 12:00 PM.
• Join the Harvest Celebration at the IMAS to learn about Native culture with hands-on art activities! This event will be held from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM and on Saturday from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM. For general admission fees, please click here.
• Come create Outdoor Art at Quinta Mazatlán beginning at 11:00 AM. There is a park admission fee of $3 per person.
• Enjoy an evening with the creatures of the night at the Friday Night Hike at the McAllen Nature Center beginning at 5:45 PM. There is a suggested donation fee of $1 per person.
• Join Jump Up For Fun’s November Parents Night Out beginning at 6:00 PM. There is a fee of $15 per child, which includes the food light show, bubble blast, and more.
• The Lighting of the Tree at the Art Village on Main is scheduled for 6:00 PM. Immediately after the lighting ceremony, visit local art vendors at the courtyard and enjoy live music.
• If you’re looking to expand your beer knowledge, stop by the Beer 101 class with Adrian Garza at Grain to Glass beginning at 7:00 PM.
• True Survivor Lockdown hosted by Wrestling Revolution will be held at Cine El Rey from 8:00 PM until 11:00 PM. Tickets are available online for $10, click here to purchase.
• Friday Night Funnies will be held at London Grill & Tavern at 8:00 PM. Click here to purchase tickets.
• Take a Bachata class at 3911 Lounge during their Viernes Latino en 3911 event beginning at 9:00 PM.

Saturday, November 30^th

• Join the G-Squared Collaborative for Saturday Morning Art Making at 9:30 AM at the McAllen Creative Incubator. There is a fee of $10 per workshop participant.
• Practice Yoga at the Farmers Market from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM.
• Shop locally at the McAllen Farmers Market from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
• Join the Chip Monsters for Creative Session for Kids+Parents from 12:00 PM until 2:30 PM. A few of the creative projects offered are Comic Book Collage, Make Your Super Hero Mask, 8-Bit Pixel Art, and more! There is a fee of $8 to $10 per creative project with all workshop materials provided. Please register by visiting the Events Section of their Facebook page and selecting “Going.”
• The 5^th Anniversary Celebration at Grain to Glass will be happening from 12:00 PM until 11:30 PM.
• Shop locally at Hinovations Art Gallery for their Small Business Saturday Pop-Up Shop from 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
• Enjoy some refreshments and local art during TOAD Jingle JAM at TOAD Studio located at 1909 N. 10^th from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
• Join a staff naturalist for a Sunset Nature Walk at the McAllen Nature Center beginning at 4:30 PM.
• Paint Your Pet at The Yard will be held from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM with all materials and tools provided. This is an adult-only event with a fee of $41 per participant. Click here to purchase. A percentage of the proceeds will be donated to a local rescue group or pet in need.
• Enjoy live music, delicious BBQ, local vendors, and more at Pawchella – A Benefit Event for Yaqui Animal Rescue from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. This event will be held at The Flying Walrus with an optional donation fee of $5 at the door or a small bag of dog/cat food.

Sunday, December 1^st

• Enjoy a bike ride with the Sun & Ski Sports Team during their Sunday Sapo Gravel Ride from 7:00 AM until 10:00 AM. Meet at their La Plaza Mall location and don’t forget your helmet and water bottle!
• Sunday French Film of the Month: Amelie will be screened at Cine El Rey at 1:00 PM.
• Enjoy fresh, seasonal fruits and veggies, live music, and more at Tres Lagos Farmers’ Market from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM.
• Bring your little ones for stories, signs, and playtime at Baby Storytime! This event will be held at the McAllen Public Library from 4:00 PM until 5:00 PM.
• Join a staff member for Art in the Park held at the McAllen Nature Center from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM. There is a suggested donation of $1 per person.
