Frio Grande Valley Ice Center

Where can you ice skate in 90-degree weather? At Frio Grande Valley Ice Center, of course! They offer ice hockey, figure skating and much more. If you’re new to ice skating, Frio Grande Valley has Learn to Skate Classes on Mondays through Thursdays from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Registered as a United States Figure Skating program, Frio will have you skating like a pro before Spring Break is over!

Food Park Unplugged

The McAllen Chamber of Commerce’s Food Park Unplugged is back this season with all of your favorite food trucks! From 8:00 PM until 10:00 PM on Friday, March 17th, enjoy the sounds of local musicians while shopping at local craft and collectible venues. Be sure to try something new from the food trucks! There is always FREE admission into the park and it’s the perfect atmosphere for the entire family!

Pump it Up

Bouncy houses just got an upgrade. Pump it Up in McAllen has a giant room filled with fun, interactive bouncy houses that every child will love! Why not have them enrolled during an entire week of fun? That’s right, Pump it Up has full and half day camps for ages three to 10! If you’re looking to have a day of jumping fun, they’ll also have open jump sessions from Monday, March 13th until the 17th from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM. Get pumped this Spring Break!

Fantasyland Skate

Rollerblade or skate at Fantasyland Skate Center from Thursday through Sunday! It’s a fun place to skate for the entire family! Think you have what it takes to skate the night away? On Tuesday, March 14th from 9:00 PM until 7:00 AM on the 15th, you’ll be able to put your skills to the test with the Fantasyland Skate Center’s Lock In! Complete with a DJ, contests and prizes, this event is perfect for skaters over seven years old.

Monarch Celebration

Celebrate one of the most epic migrations in the animal kingdom at the Monarch Celebration at Quinta Mazatlán World Birding Center on Saturday, March 18th from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Learn about the migration of the Monarch, design a Monarch Garden, create a unique piece of Monarch art, explore the park for butterflies and view these winged wonders up close in the Butterfly Tent! Butterfly experts will be on-hand to answer your questions. Children and adults will have a blast with music, crafts and so much more!

Jump for Fun

Bouncy houses are popular with everyone. That’s why Jump Up for Fun takes it a notch higher with creative bouncy houses that you can only dream of. With Spring Break quickly approaching, Jump Up for Fun in McAllen will be open all day for open jump! That’s right, jump to your heart’s content between Monday, March 13th and the 17th!

Pools Gone Wild

The only thing going wild this Spring Break is the McAllen Municipal Pool! All Spring Break week, everyone will be able to take a dip during public swimming hours from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM. If you’re feeling particularly “wild”, there will be a special Spring Break Edition of fun pool time from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM. There will also be games, contests, prizes, music, crafts and so much more! This won’t be any ordinary pool party! And just for tweens and teens, the McAllen Municipal Pool will also be hosting Aqua Glow on March 18th! Come and check it out!

Movies in the Park

Celebrate World Down Syndrome Day with the City of McAllen Parks and Recreation Department and the Rio Grande Valley Down Syndrome Association with Movies in the Park! West Side Park will be hosting Finding Dory on Saturday, March 18th from 7:00 PM until 10:00 PM with FREE ADMISSION for everyone! Pack your picnic baskets or buy snacks on-site. Don’t forget your lawn chairs and blankets!

IMAS

The International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) always has tons of activities for the entire family. IMAS is having Spring Break Camp for Pre-K through fifth grade children. Learn about the wonders of outer space by becoming an outer space explorer or by exploring space for extraterrestrial life! McAllen Public Library

Open a world of wonder at the McAllen Public Library during Spring Break. With countless rows of books, adults, children and teens will enter different worlds. If you’re looking for a more hands-on approach, the Library will also be having events all week long for teens and young children.
