Everyone can use a break and step outside for a few hours these days. In McAllen, there are talented artists who’ve showcased their works of art at various locations in the city. Come visit these 10 must-see murals and use the hashtag #ExploreMcAllen when you share it on social media!

1. Wish You Were Here Wall

McAllen Sports | 101 S. 17th St.

Located on the south wall at Brujeria Ultra Discotheque, this unique mural has SIX beautiful works that are perfect for any Instagram post! This #MuralOn17th comes via the McAllen Network Crew.

2. MXLAN Oaxacan-Inspired Mural

RGV Cupcake Factory | 3300 W. Expressway 83 Ste. 1260

During McAllen’s inaugural MXLAN Festival in 2019, world-renowned artist Irving Cano painted an Oaxacan-inspired mural that allowed visitors to see his creative process in front of MXLAN’s indoor entrance. Today, you can see Cano’s mural on the east wall of the RGV Cupcake Factory at the Palms Crossing Shopping Center.

3. A Memorial to Local Law Enforcement

The Boys and Girls Club of McAllen | 2620 W. Galveston

Our community was heartbroken when three local law enforcement officers were killed in the line of duty, but thanks to one local artist, their memories will live on. A mural of the McAllen police officers, Officer Ismael Chavez, DPS Trooper Moises Sanchez, and Officer Edelmiro Garza Jr., was added to the Boys and Girls Club of McAllen by Alexander Gonzalez, also known as @popc_ulture on Instagram.

4. La Guadalupe Wall at Suerte Bar & Grill

Suerte Bar & Grill | 301 S. 17th St.

This work of art is iconic on 17th Street. It’s located at Suerte Bar & Grill, and after striking a pose, go in and place an order for their mouth-watering tacos and ice-cold brews!

5. A Tribute to the Bryant Family

McAllen Sports | 109 S. 17th St.

After Kobe and Gianna Bryant tragically perished in a helicopter accident in late January, local artist Alexander Gonzalez, or @popc_ulture on Instagram, created this mural as a tribute to the fallen Los Angeles Laker star and his daughter.

6. I Love the Valley

McAllen Sports | 109 S. 17th St.

Filled with palm trees, the “I Love the Valley” mural is an homage to McAllen and South Texas. This work of art can be found on wall of McAllen Sports.

7. Wakanda Forever

Downtown McAllen | 311 S. Bicentennial Blvd.

Chadwick Boseman mesmerized moviegoers with his portrayal of the Marvel superhero Black Panther, but as he battled villains, he also waged a private war with colon cancer. Tragically, he passed away from the illness in late August, but his memory lives on! Boseman inspired this mural on Bicentennial Blvd. between Chicago Rd. and Dallas Rd.

8. Blooming Roses

Located in the downtown McAllen district, Amistad Wholesale Floral & Crafts has flowers and supplies for every season and a mural outside for a must-have Insta post after your shopping binge!

9. Kisses to My Haters!

Elevate Night Club | 223 S. 17th Street

For all the folks who’ve had people disrespect them on social media, this wall is for you! Take a photo at the Kiss to My Haters! mural at Elevate Night Club – and tag your haters!

Exotic Tropical Pet World | 1716 W. Hackberry

Exotic Tropical Pet World brings people and pets together! With their mural facing Bicentennial Blvd., it brings together pet lovers and people who love taking great photos. Stop by during the evening when the sun is setting for the perfect “golden hour” selfie.
