Last week, Explore McAllen embarked on a profound journey through history as we had the privilege of experiencing the ‘Hate Ends Now: The Cattle Car’ exhibit at The International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) . This mobile Holocaust museum offers a unique and immersive opportunity to step into the past, housed within a historically accurate replica of a cattle car used for deportations during the Holocaust.
The heart of the program lies in its immersive exhibit, where groups of up to 25 visitors are enveloped in a 25-minute presentation. Inside the replica cattle car, 360-degree projections bring history to life, offering a visceral understanding of the deportations that took place during one of humanity’s darkest chapters.
What makes this experience truly impactful is its ability to bridge the gap between history and the present day. Visitors not only learn about the atrocities of the past but also reflect on how these events resonate in today’s world. Through powerful Holocaust survivor testimonies, participants are encouraged to make connections between historical injustices and contemporary issues, fostering a deeper understanding of the importance of combating antisemitism and all forms of bigotry in our society today.
