The McAllen Tree Lighting Ceremony

Light up the holidays on Wednesday, November 27th from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the McAllen Convention Center for our annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. New this year is Santa’s Circle illuminated Park! This 64 ft. tall pre-lit Christmas tree will be the largest in town.

This grand display of holiday cheer will stand tall and bright in Oval Park at the McAllen Convention Center from November 27th until January 6th. Wear your Christmas sweaters and take photos with Santa!

Christmas in the Park will be held at the McAllen Municipal Park with activities for the whole family! There will be live entertainment, 30 food vendors, the Heart of America Carnival, Jerry Jones’s private Dallas Cowboys trailer, a marketplace with over 40 craft vendors, and much more!

  • The event will be held on Tamarack between Bicentennial and 23rd
  • Grammy award-winning Tejano group Grupo Siggno will perform at Christmas in the Park on Friday, December 6th.
  • Norteño regional musical group Los Tigrillos will be performing on Saturday, December 7th.
  • Photos with Santa will be available on Friday from 5:00 PM until 11:00 PM and Saturday from 12:00 PM until 4:30 PM and from 9:30 PM until Midnight.

  • Join the Opening Ceremony Extravaganza at 4:30 PM inside the Veterans Memorial Stadium. There will be special performances by Mane de la Parra with the McAllen I.S.D. 4th and 5th grade choir, snowfall, and a firework finale! Pies from CC’s Sweets & Tweets are only available during pie season, so get them while you can! Choose from many pie flavors such as turtle pecan, sweet potato, pumpkin, pumpkin-pecan cheesecake, pumpkin cheesecake, and assorted Thanksgiving-themed cupcakes.

Pies will be available until November 27th at 3:00 PM. It will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.

Bread and Butter Bakery Café

All of their pastries are made from scratch! This mom-and-pop bakery offers breakfast, lunch, and an extensive dessert list.

Pick up any of these baked goods: pumpkin pie, sweet potato pie, apple pie with a crumble topping, turtle or pumpkin cheesecake, dinner rolls, and mini croissants.

It will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, so place your orders before November 18th and pick them up by November 27th.

  • Enjoy a bike ride with the Sun & Ski Sports Team during their Sunday Sapo Gravel Ride from 7:00 AM until 10:00 AM. Meet at their La Plaza Mall location and don’t forget your helmet and water bottle!
  • The high-intensity functional workout “2FIT2QUIT” will be held at The Yard from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM. There is a fee of $20 per person, which includes a $5 alcoholic beverage, the workout, and entrance to a raffle. To purchase tickets, call Osiel at 956-545-1285.
  • Join the festivities at the annual H-E-B Feast of Sharing Holiday Dinner at the McAllen Convention Center from 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM. In addition to a holiday meal, you can enjoy music, arts and crafts, and kids’ activities.
  • Celebrate culture and imagination at the South Texas Book Festival 2019. This event will be held at the McAllen Public Library from 12:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
  • Join Craft Cultura for Curando Heridas: A Community Plática on Latinx Mental Health at the IMAS from 1:00 PM until 3:30 PM.
  • Take advantage of the Free Family Sunday Funday at the IMAS from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM.
  • Bring your little one for stories, signs, and playtime during Baby Storytime! This event will be held at the McAllen Public Library from 4:00 PM until 5:00 PM.
  • Enjoy live and local music at Sabrosonico held at The Yard from 5:00 PM until 1:00 AM.
  • Join a staff member for a fun arts and crafts activity during Art in the Park. This event will be held at the McAllen Nature Center from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM. There is a suggested donation fee of $1 per person.
