This spot is one of the more well-known parks in McAllen. With a beautiful view of Town Lake, this is one of the best places for a picnic!

Quinta Mazatlán

Did you know that you can have a picnic at Quinta Mazatlán as long as you have no glass containers or alcoholic beverages? It’s also the perfect place to spend a day exploring trails and learning about native plants and wildlife!

This park includes a 37-acre green space that houses a softball complex, playground, picnic areas, four pavilions, and a basketball court! If you’re looking to spend the day barbecuing, playing some basketball, or watching a softball game, then this park is for you!

Zinnia Park

We love Zinnia Park because it’s small and offers a splash pad, playground, shaded trees, and ample green spaces that are perfect for picnics!

Celebrating McAllen’s ever-growing love for the world’s oldest fermented beverage, Brew-seum was created as a fundraiser to benefit the International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS). This year, celebrate with a virtual 5K, beer dinner, beer yoga, and more! 

All guests must be over 21 to participate. 

Lineup of Events 

Brew-seum Virtual 5K 

April 3rd through April 30th

Calling all runners! Run, drink beer, and have fun! With this virtual 5K, run on a treadmill, a McAllen trail (find those here), or around your neighborhood. Afterward, check-in at University Drafthouse at Town Lake during their hours of operation for your FREE drink!

All race packets will include: 

  • A runner’s bib
  • A voucher for a free drink at UDH Town Lake
  • A Brew-seum 5K medal
  • A Brew-seum towel
  • Race info and suggested route
  • Sponsor swag

Packet pickup is on Saturday, April 3rd from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the Charles Clark Chevrolet Dealership at 801 W. Business 83. Prices include $30 for the race packet and the $25 IMAS member price.

Unleash your dog and let their curiosity and agility take hold as they run through McAllen’s dog park. It’s a great place for dog owners to allow their furry friends to run leash-free in a safe area. This fenced, double-gated park has two large and small areas that are separated by weight. With water fountains, benches, shade and waste disposal stations, a whole day at the dog park will have your dog ecstatic and making new friends. The McAllen Dog Park is open from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM daily.

Dogs must be healthy, sociable, current on all vaccinations and licensed with tags on their collar. They must also be under their owner’s control at all times. Owners must clean up after their pets and keep them leashed when not in designated off-lead areas.

Treats

No, we aren’t talking about leftover pizza to give to your dog as a treat. We are talking about specialized treats for your pup that they won’t have to share.

CC’s Sweets & Treats in McAllen makes some great doggie treats that your pup will enjoy! Known for their delicious macaroons, you and your furry loved one can dive right into some sweet treats.
