It’s almost that time of year where ghouls and goblins emerge as the celebration of Halloween creeps onto our calendars! For those who love the howls of werewolves, screeches of owls and tricks or treating of critters roaming the streets, Halloween isn’t limited to one day in McAllen; it’s all month long! Here are some great events that are already popping up to get you amped and ready for a Spooktacular McAllen Halloween!
October 13th | McAllen Public Library
The only Friday the 13th in 2017 is in October. Coincidence? We think not! Author David Bowles will be sharing his most spine-tingling tales of the Rio Grande Valley at the McAllen Public Library from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM. It’s the perfect event on the perfect day to get you ready for Halloween! Seating is limited and registration is required.

Pumpkin Carving Class
October 28th | Las Palmas Community Center
McAllen Parks and Recreation is inviting the whole family for tips and techniques in creating your very own masterpiece at the Jack-O-Lantern Pumpkin Carving Class. For only $3, you can walk away with your own scary piece of artwork to set the mood for Halloween!

Thriller Flash Mob
October 31st | In front of Cine El Rey
It’s been eight years since the last epic Thriller flash mob in front of Cine El Rey. If you missed it the first time, it’s back this year and open and free to everyone of all ages. Get there early because it’s sure to be packed with viewers waiting for a glimpse of some killer moves!

October 21st | West Side Park
The City of McAllen will throw their annual Halloween extravaganza that will bring out the family-friendly spooks just in time for Halloween. This year’s Halloween Hoopla will feature Fright Nite 5K, inflatable fun, a costume contest, food, games and, of course, candy and prizes!

Wes Craven Night
October 13th | Tres
Master of horror Wes Craven will be celebrated at Tres in Downtown McAllen. The venue will be draped in Wes Craven décor for the whole week leading up to the big Friday the 13th Bash celebrating the horror mastermind. With drink specials, giveaways and costumes (encouraged), Tres will be bringing your love for horror with a fun-filled night.

13 Days of Halloween Party
October 5th |Brujeria
Brujeria will be celebrating the ENTIRE month of October. Starting on the 5th, this new club will dedicate Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays to different themes, from Rob Zombie to American Horror Story. There’ll be solo costume contests, group cosplay contests and more events leading up to the biggest night of Halloween in Downtown McAllen.
