Turmoil & Tranquility
On Exhibit: August 10, 2019 – December 1, 2019
This exhibit is comprised of a selection of more than 20 works of art created in quilt format. The exhibit represents two different states of beings – Turmoil and Tranquility, which are in opposition, yet intertwined.
With both selections the artists explore the calm before the storm and vice versa.
Tranquility is defined as a quality of state of being, possessing the concepts of quiet, peacefulness, calmness and serenity. On the other hand, Turmoil is defined as a state of great disturbance, confusion or uncertainty. It can be personal and internal, societal or natural; this second selection depicts chaos, discord, imbalance and tumult. Within both selection the artists express the state of being through the use of color, line and composition.
Turmoil and Tranquility was organized by the Studio Art Quilt Association.
