This weekend will be full of activities in McAllen! Plan a date night at the Valley Symphony Orchestra’s concert Friday evening, have a swim “pawty” during Doggie Day at Los Encinos Pool on Saturday, and end Sunday at the new RGV Kidz Expo at the McAllen Convention Center! Friday, September 27th
- Make time with your family for Boat & Fish on Town Lake at Firemen’s Park each day this weekend from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
- Attend a night of magic, mystery, and murder with Of Sound Mind and Dead Body: Murder Mystery Dinner! This event will be held at the McAllen Public Library from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Tickets are $75 each. Click here to purchase or visit the library’s circulation desk.
- Join the Valley Symphony Orchestra for Back to School: A Concert of Academic Celebration at the McAllen Performing Arts Center from 8:00 PM until 10:00 PM. Tickets start at $25, click here to purchase or visit the McAllen Performing Arts Center box office.

Saturday, September 28th
- Tai Chi at the McAllen Nature Center will take place from 8:00 AM until 9:00 AM. There is a suggested donation fee of $1.
- Join Saturday Morning Art-Making at the McAllen Creative Incubator from 9:30 AM until 12:30 PM. There is a fee of $10 per workshop.
- Shop locally at the McAllen Farmers Market from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
- Have a swim “pawty” at Doggie Day at The Pool from 11:00 AM until 4:00 PM. This event will be held at Los Encinos Pool with an entry fee of $2 per dog and $1 per person. There is a maximum of two dogs per owner and proof of current rabies vaccination is required.
- Enjoy a book reading and singalong at ¡Todos a Celebrar! It will be held at the McAllen Public Library from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
- Practice Yoga at the McAllen Farmers Market from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM.
- Spend your evening celebrating Semilla’s Two-Year Anniversary at Semilla Coffee Lab from 6:00 PM until 12:00 AM. It’ll be a night full of local vendors, live music, food, and more!
- Enjoy the Spanish Comedy Cleopatra Metió La Pata at the McAllen Performing Arts Center beginning at 8:00 PM. Tickets start at $50. Click here to purchase.
Sunday, September 29th
- Enjoy a bike ride with the Sun & Ski Sports team during their Sunday Sapo Gravel Ride from 7:00 AM until 10:00 AM. Meet at their La Plaza Mall location and don’t forget your helmet and water bottle.
- Play, learn, shop, and explore at the RGV Kidz Expo! This event will be held at the McAllen Convention Center from 12:00 PM until 5:00 PM. Admission is free for kids and there will be a $10 charge per adult.
- Learn how to block print at the Youth Art Class: Lino Cut Prints at IMAS from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM. The workshop registration is $10 for non-members. Click here to register.
- Learn the fundamentals of starting your family tree at Genealogy with the McAllen Public Library: A Beginner’s Guide to Tracing Your Hispanic Family Roots from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM.
- Bring your little one for stories, signs, and playtime during Baby Storytime at the McAllen Public Library from 4:00 PM until 5:00 PM.
